Desired Candidate Profile: Education: Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the tooling domain. Key Responsibilities: Technical Proposal: Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints. Detailed knowledge of cutting tool geometries, materials, and performance characteristics. Select the appropriate process flow: Determine output component requirements (GD&T and cycle time). Define the number of set-ups by balancing cycle time. Select the right tools for the process. Knowledge of fixture design is preferable. Stay current with industry trends and advancements in cutting tool technology, and recommend innovative solutions to enhance manufacturing processes. Prove-out: Hands-on experience with part prove-out on VMC (Vertical Machining Center) & HMC (Horizontal Machining Center). Preparation of part programs for VMC & HMC. Experience with various cutting tools such as drills, end mills, and inserts. Conduct initial and ongoing prove-outs of CNC cutting tools to ensure optimal performance, identifying and troubleshooting any issues related to tool performance. Analyze cutting tool performance data to recommend and implement improvements in tool life, cutting parameters, and overall efficiency. Strong problem-solving skills to resolve issues with tool performance and machining processes. Maintain detailed records of tool performance, adjustments, and modifications. Prepare comprehensive reports on tool prove-out results. Provide training and support to production staff on new tools and techniques, ensuring understanding of best practices for tool use and maintenance. Preparation of project closure documents. Lead the prove-out process for new cutting tools, including testing, validation, and implementation into production. Knowledge of process capabilities. Desired Traits & Skills: Meticulous approach to verifying tool performance and making precise adjustments. Strong analytical skills for complex data analysis and performance metrics to drive improvements. Clear and effective communication with engineers, machinists, and production staff. Ability to work well within cross-functional teams to achieve common goals. Adaptability to new technologies, processes, and tools as the industry evolves. Strong project management and multitasking abilities, with excellent documentation and record-keeping skills. Initiative to identify and address potential issues before they arise, proposing solutions to enhance tool performance and process efficiency. Basic project management skills to oversee tool proving projects and ensure timely completion.
