We are currently hiring for a client in Automation: Job Title: Trainee Engineer / Engineer – Design and Development Location: Bengaluru Job Code: DE.IEG Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a Master's degree in Machine Design. Experience: 0-3 years of hands-on experience in the design and development of Fixtures, Automation, and Special Purpose Machines (SPMs). Key Responsibilities: Design and Development: Involvement in machine building with a thorough understanding of design, development, and engineering processes. Application of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Excellence (DFX), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Perform engineering analyses using foundational physics principles, including calculations for metal cutting forces, torque, energy, power, deflection, stress-strain, vibrations, and thermal effects for child parts, sub-assemblies, and structural elements. Selection and understanding of actuators used in machine tools (e.g., electromechanical elements, drive elements, hydraulics, pneumatics). Knowledge of mechanical properties, behavior of materials, heat treatment, and surface coating. Application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles. Tools: CAD: Experience with PTC Creo preferred, with exposure to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). FEA: Experience with mechanical, thermal, and vibrational Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Role and Responsibilities: Design and Development: Lead the design and development of new machines, from finalizing specifications to launching the product. Product Development: Steer the product development cycle through scientific study and a "no-assumptions" approach. Engineering Analysis: Conduct in-depth engineering and analysis of design for child parts, sub-assemblies, and structures using dynamic simulation, followed by FEA tools to define behavioral characteristics (vibrational, thermal, ambient, etc.). Actuator Selection: Perform selection, analysis, and life cycle evaluation of actuators such as motors, ball screws, guidance systems, hydraulic/pneumatic elements, and pumps. Life Cycle Testing: Define and execute life cycle testing for critical parts, sub-assemblies, and bought-out parts, followed by testing of the overall equipment through well-designed Design of Experiments (DOE). Feasibility Studies: Conduct feasibility studies for new technological innovations. Innovative Thinking: Continuously think outside the box and bring innovative and creative ideas to the table. Team Collaboration: Anchor collaborative efforts with the team to achieve goals by executing plans in the most effective and efficient manner.
